A calcium battery has a calcium component (about 1%) added to both the positive and negative plates of a lead-acid battery. This reduces water loss in the battery due to gassing and allows the Battery Alloys container to be completely sealed and maintenance-free.
Antimony has long been thought to be a viable anode material for high-performance lithium-ion batteries since this metalloid has a charging capacity that is two times that of regularly used graphite. Antimony undergoes complete lithiation or sodiation, resulting in significant volumetric changes.
