The Vikings are one of the world's most well-known nomadic peoples. They ravaged and invaded Britain and much of Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa starting in the early 8th century. They independently developed their own culture and language, created their own narratives and tales, and established sophisticated trade routes connecting Europe and Asia. By the 11th century, they had created a mighty kingdom that stretched from Denmark to Sicily.

The Vikings were legendary warriors who were well-trained in mounted combat and archery. They also used boats to cross rivers and oceans, and mastered sailing techniques that allowed them to travel vast distances with ease. They made extensive use of iron tools and weapons, which gave them an enormous advantage over other ancient societies. They also developed advanced farming techniques that helped to sustain their large population.

Eventually, however Viking society began to decline. The introduction of Christianity led many Vikings to convert to Christianity, while others turned to piracy in an attempt to make a living. An increasing scarcity of land also led many Vikings to settle in new lands such as Iceland or Greenland, where they could grow crops for food and herd animals for meat.
