Vivid Sydney 2022: Best Places to Eat and Drink

Getting a great meal for your tummies is important, especially when you're about to explore one of the biggest festivals of light, music and ideas in the world. While you're out venturing around the city, catching an exhilarating music concert or a thought provoking workshop, you’re going to need pitstops for some savouries. Whether you want to grab a takeaway, sit down for a classy dining, or a jazzed up cocktail,  here are some of the best dining spots around the city for Vivid Sydney.

This list is not ranked in any order but if it was, there’s only one spot for number one, the Vivid Harbour Cruise. This is your ultimate ticket to enjoy the harbour spectacles from the waters while indulging in a scrumptious menu of food and drinks! You can hop aboard any of the top vessels, including the authentic paddlewheeler, the multi-million dollar catamaran or a luxury glass boat, and cruise around the harbour taking in the vivid lights and night breeze! Get close-up views of the Lighting of the Sails of the Opera House, the Harbour Bridge, the illuminated Luna Park and much more! You can even further heighten your experience with drinks and other beverages which can be purchased from the fully licensed bar! This Vivid Dinner Cruise with food, drinks and views is also the best way to escape the buzzing crowds for a relaxing couple of hours!

Circular Quay is expected to be one of the go-to destinations for Vivid Sydney 2022 with numerous light installations and street arts! But this wasn't always the case. Back when Vivid started, the Quay didn’t have many options but as the years went by and the festival started expanding, buzzing doors started coming up, one among them being Hacienda. This place is a popular spot for after-work shenanigans and pre-theatre bevvies, situated right above the Quay and offering unparalleled views of the harbour and the bridge. The main highlight of this joint is the mouth-watering South American-inspired dishes and the cuban-themed cocktail lounge! There aren’t many places around the harbour with a view and cocktail menu like this, so this is an ideal spot for small groups.

If you ever felt like dining close to the Opera House, there is no better place than the Opera Bar. The only downside here is that you will be in the company of a massive crowd but if you can manage to get a table, it will be worth it for the views and the oysters! The festival transforms the iconic landmarks and other towering structures into a magical, luminous artwork and at the Opera Bar you can have an incredible view of a few of them while sipping on a fine array of drinks. You can also get the best instagrammable frames from this spot so get your camera ready at all times! It’s an ideal place to sit outdoors and take in the city buzz while indulging in locally sourced foods, wine and cocktails!

The Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA), is the go-to place for residents and tourists if they're wanting to take a look at some of the finest works of art, but did you also know that you can come here for a classy dining with your friends? If you're in the mood for rooftop dining, head to the MCA Cafe with your best group and sip on your favourite choice of beer, ciders, cocktails, wines and more! Apart from enjoying views of the well-lit Sydney Harbour, you will also be standing in the middle of the famous facade of the building, which will also be transformed into a creative installation.
