Next-door Destinations in Sydney for a Break From Routine Life
Getting worked up due to your hectic routines? Here are some activities to help you unwind including dinner cruises in Sydney, mountain hikes & more.

In a recent study, it was observed that people are becoming more and more obsessed with their cell phones. But as much as we know how much damage it does to our physical and mental health, we often find ourselves drifting deeper into the virtual world. And boy! Do we need fresh air! In a beautiful city like Sydney, it would be a shame to waste all your time ogling at your screens—both at the office and at home! There are many pretty destinations and refreshing activities in Sydney that will not only rejuvenate your senses but give you a proper break from the virtual world. Keep reading for a handpicked roster of trending attractions in Sydney.

How lucky are you Sydneysiders to be living in a city that houses not one but two world-famous attractions situated side-by-side! We’d suggest you hop aboard a Sydney Harbour ferry to enjoy the priceless views of these wonderful icons but here’s a better option for you– sightseeing, lunch and dinner cruises in Sydney. There are many boats that offer amazing cruises through the harbour waters and there’s no doubt it’s a great way to take a break from your hectic routines. For Sydneysiders, visiting the harbour might not be just to see the harbour attractions but also for enjoying the surf and the wind while having a good time with their people. A Sydney Harbour dinner cruise is a perfect experience that combines sightseeing, cruising, dining and sometimes even, entertainment. Depending on your requirements and budget, you can choose between paddlewheelers, catamarans and glass boats on the harbour and indulge in a memorable retreat into the waters, far from the madding crowd and deadly modern technology.

Sydney is a stunning coastal metropolis that elegantly balances the urban and natural elements. You might be a typical city-bred person who loves to travel occasionally. The city is studded with many beautiful natural attractions including beaches, rainforests, mountains, rivers and more. One of the must-visit destinations we’d like to add to this roster is the Hunter Valley. This is one of Australia’s major wine regions located in the north of Sydney. Claimed to be Australia’s oldest wine region, the Hunter Valley is definitely one for the senses where you will be mesmerised at the sight of peaceful landscapes, vast vineyards and gourmet places. You can get here by road for a wonderful getaway from the city. The Hunter region is only a two-hour drive from the city centre and indeed, you’ll forget to check your phone updates while you’re here as there’s never a dull moment when you’re in Hunter! There’s wine, cheese and plenty of gourmet delights that will keep your senses occupied. If you’re here with your friends, consider pub-hopping between cellar doors to try some of the acclaimed varieties of Shiraz and Semillon.

If you’re into hiking and adventures, another amazing destination on our list is Mount Gower located on the World Heritage-listed Lord Howe Island. The mountain is some 875 metres high and it is one of the best day hikes in Australia. This 14-kilometre round-trip hike ascends to the misty woods at the summit. On the way, there are botanical and wildlife wonders which you can visit in your own time. The place is often empty as the visitor numbers are limited in order to protect the environment. Although reaching the summit takes more than five hours, it is definitely worth the climb! For insights into the island’s natural history and unique ecology, you may take a guided walk.

Visit these amazing regions to revive your senses and take that much-needed break from technology and hectic daily routines. Hope you have a great time!
