How do I get a study permit for Canada? What do I need to do?

A study permit might be required for those who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents.

If you plan to study in a short-term program for 6 months or less, you do not need a study permit. You may do this while holding a visitor visa. But, you can apply for a study permit if you want to.

Consider applying for a study permit if you think you might want to study in another program after you complete your first program. While enrolled in school, you can apply for an extension of a study permit if you already have one. It is important, however, if you do not already have a study permit, to follow the directions for applying for a study permit from abroad
