According to reports in the international press, Apple has retaliated in the latest round of patent disputes with Ericsson by filing a countersuit and requesting that the US International Trade Commission (ITC) block the importation of Ericsson's mobile infrastructure equipment.
The iPhone manufacturer alleges that Ericsson's millimeter-wave antenna RUs and baseband units infringe on its patents, but notes that if the ITC granted its request, none of Ericsson's products were produced in the US will be harmed.
According to sources, Ericsson has filed a complaint in the Eastern District of Texas, along with other actions in the Western District of Texas and other countries, including Germany, saying that Apple has infringed on a total of 12 Ericsson independent 5G patents. Apple has filed a counterclaim with the US International Trade Commission, seeking that infringing equipment be prohibited from entering the country.
