Dickinson's Sports Ground
The Dickinson's Sports Ground - formerly known as the Croxley Sports Field - was established in 1877 and is now an important recreational site. During this time the Croxley Stars Cricket and Athletic Sports were formed. The team began by playing cricket on the land donated by the John Dickinson Mill, and soon took up other sports, including rugby and football.
In 1980 the John Dickinson mill closed. The Dickinson Robinson Group Ltd. purchased the sports ground for PS1 and formed a committee to oversee its maintenance. Later it was transferred to the Guild of Sports who took over management and changed it to their name. The Croxley Sports Ground is a local landmark. It was once home to many local organisations. Today the club is home to Croxley Green Scout Troop.
The sporting history of Croxley Green is not widely known, but there is a rich sporting tradition. Throughout its history the Croxley sports ground has been a popular venue for rugby, cricket, and bowls. It has become one of the main community-based facilities in the area.
