Good News! Netflix India announces Netflix free streaming access for 5th and 6th December
Recently, streaming platform Netflix India announced that they will be offering free Netflix streaming access to non-subscribers in India on 5-6 December 2020. Anyone in India can watch the blockbuster films, series, real life documentaries and reality shows for 2 days, starting from 12 midnight on 5 December.
Netflix will be hosting ‘StreamFest‘ for Indians that will be allowing the non-subscribers to experience the service for free. Netflix’s StreamFest will not be asking for users’ credit card details. It will be available to anyone with a device that supports Netflix’s streaming service.
As of now, It offers monthly subscription plans across three price plans of Rs 499, Rs 649 and Rs 799. Apart from that there is a Rs 199 mobile-only pack. Other competitors like Amazon Prime Video, Disney Plus Hotstar and Zee5 offer their services at comparatively cheaper subscription rates, ranging between Rs 99-299 a month and Rs 999 annually.
Users will be able to sign up with their name, email or phone number and password on the StreamFest page to see the content. Registered users will be able to access the services across several platforms. Such as smart TV, gaming console, iOS and Android apps and the web. However, they will be restricted to a single stream in standard definition (SD) quality.
From 20 November onwards, viewers can also visit Netflix.com/StreamFest and they will be able to set a reminder with their email or phone number. They’ll get intimated as soon as StreamFest is live. For beginners, this could turn out to be an ideal opportunity for trial and testing. Ans for Netflix, the gain could be higher number of subscribers.
In India, Netflix is expected to complete the year with 4.6 million paid subscribers. Netflix CEO Reed Hastings had last year announced that streaming platform would invest Rs 3,000 crore on Indian content.
The COO and Chief Product Officer Gregory K Peters, shared that the company is coming up with new ways to introduce Netflix to new users.
He said that “giving everyone in a country access to Netflix for free for a weekend could be a amazing way to expose a bunch of new people to the amazing stories that we have, the service, how the service works, really create an event and hopefully get a bunch of those folks to sign up”.
So, what are your plans for the December weekend? What are you binge-watching?
