General Description
For Bluetooth® low energy, the DA14580 integrated circuit contains a fully integrated radio transceiver and a baseband processor. It can function as a stand-alone application processor or as a data pump in cloud-based systems.
The DA14580 has a memory architecture that allows it to store Bluetooth profiles and bespoke application code that can be updated over the air (OTA). A dedicated ROM stores the qualified Bluetooth low-energy protocol stack. A simple scheduler runs all software on the ARM®Cortex®-M0 CPU.
The L2CAP service layer protocols, Security Manager (SM), Attribute Protocol (ATT), Generic Attribute Profile (GATT), and Generic Access Profile (GAP) are all included in the Bluetooth low energy firmware (GAP).
