Wolf Ammunition- Affordable Ammo

According to consumers who use it, Wolf Ammunition is one of the best affordable ammunition choices on the market today. You can depend on the quality and experience of an ammunition company that has been in the ammunition manufacturing business for over 120 years.

Wolf ammo is available online and in stores. Wolf ammunition is manufactured in Russia and falls into the lower cost range of commercially available loaded ammunition.

Wolf is non-corrosive, and typically Berdan primed. They have several ammo loaded into both a polymer-coated steel case, a brass plated steel case, or even reloadable brass cases. Wolf promotional material states they also offer a match grade of .22LR loading and shotshells.

Some first-time users of the Wolf brand have complained that Wolf ammo is dirty and may require extra cleaning. This is related to the use of the steel cartridge cases not sealing and the walls of the chamber. Steel is more complex than brass and doesn't expand, and may not form a proper gas seal with the room when fired. This allows an excess of carbon build-up inside the chamber, which requires more thorough gun cleaning measures.

Some users have reported that cased brass ammunition may become stuck in the chamber if fired after steel cased ammo before the gun is cleaned. Some blame this problem on the lacquer coating on the rounds, but the fact is that new production Wolf no longer uses the lacquer coating; the layer is now a sprayed-on polymer with nothing to do with the jamming problem.

Although it may look like a copper bullet, the projectile itself is composed of a lead core with a mild steel jacket with copper plated to approximately .005 inches.

Many gun ranges will not allow the use of Wolf steel jacketed ammo. Their reasoning is that steel ricochets more easily and can produce sparks that are a potential fire hazard. They also say that their backstops sustain too much damage from the steel jackets.

Most gun ranges collect and sell spent casings as one of their sources of profit may have something to do with their attitude toward steel case rounds since steel casings cannot be easily reloaded.

There are conflicting reports on the satisfaction of Wolf ammo users. Many people never have any problem with misfires, duds, or jamming. Others report an almost unbelievable number of such incidents.

It makes you wonder if some people do not clean their guns properly, thoroughly, or often enough. More likely, in the case of an AR15 rifle, it has to do with the particular firearms preference and tolerances. Some users report that the muzzle flash when shooting this ammo is overly bright.

There are others, of course, that is not satisfied with the fact that this cheap ammo is made in Russia rather than the US. The truth is; that a US concern, SSI Corporation, now owns the company.

Most experienced gun owners and shooters will tell you that different guns react to the same ammunition differently. What works great for one gun may not work so well in another weapon of the same caliber. If it does not work well, use something else.

Gun owners that use more than one manufacturer's type of weapons in their shooting sessions report that Wolf brand ammunition works perfectly in some of them and not in others.

If you order Wolf ammunition online, you will find that it's usually cheaper than domestically manufactured ammunition. This is because labor in Russia or other former Soviet bloc countries is non-unionized, and the pay is far less.

Regardless of where you purchase your ammo, you will find that Wolf is a great value and is far more reasonably priced than most other brands of ammunition you find on store shelves and internet retailers' websites.
