What To Test in Hot Tub Water?
It is essential to test the Inflatable hot tub's water to keep it safe, clean, and healthy. Test strips are the best for testing your hot tub's water. They quickly and accurately indicate the pH, sanitizer, and total alkalinity of the water. This will let you make any essential chemical adjustments.

To get the best readings, make sure you follow all the instructions when using test strips. Once you have tested your Inflatable hot tub for a while, you will see how adding chemicals, refilling or topping up the water, and general usage can affect the chemical levels and readings.

Factors to Test in a Hot tub

You need to take care of your hot tub water. Here are some of the rudimentary guidelines that you can follow. For additional facts, you can refer to our guides for each section.

Temperature

The temperature of the hot tub is the essential factor to have a relaxing session. But, as per the study, too hot water can result in heat stress. So, it is mandatory to keep the temperature within 38-40 degrees centigrade while you take a bath. So, test the temperature well of the water before you get into it.

Hot Tub Sanitizer

Bromine and chlorine- They are the commonest chemicals used as hot tub sanitizers. MSpa recommends using granules to maintain a healthy level of these chemicals. We recommend a reading between 3-5ppm and 4-6ppm for bromine.

It is important that you note that chlorine and bromine consumption will depend on the environment. Even if your spa isn't in use, the consumption of chlorine and bromine will continue. Therefore, it is the best practice to test the hot tub water on every day basis.

Hot Tub Water pH Balancing

The pH scale from 0-14 indicates acidic and alkaline conditions. The pH middle measurement is 7 pH when the water is neutral, neither acidic nor alkaline. Any chemical with pH above 7 is alkaline. And any pH lower than 7 is acidic.

The ideal pH level for spa users is between 7.0-7.4. The ideal pH level for chlorine users is between 7.6 and 7.2. This is to protect the equipment in the spa and ensure that bathers are comfortable. You will need to add more chlorine or bromine if your pH is not correct. It will make the hot tub soaking less beneficial.

It is vital to maintain a balanced water Total Alkalinity (TA) and also the Total Hardness (TH) levels. High alkalinity levels can lead to acidic water, and low levels can cause scaling in hot tubs. Total Alkalinity Plus can be used to raise the pH levels and lower the alkalinity. The water bucket will then be used to pour the solution directly into the hot tub's centre, or the deepest part.

The Takeaway

Having a bath in a hot water tub is too relaxing. However, several factors, like temperature, pH, etc., should be checked well to get the best out of the hot tub. So, it is necessary to test the hot tub in every aspect before you use it.
