Method 1- Login with Administrator Credentials

There are two steps to follow to log in as admin credentials:-

Step 1- If you already Logged in with a Different User

• Firstly, you have to move to the QuickBooks desktop icon.

• Then right-click on that icon.

• Now, choose the Run as Admin option.

• Enter in the admin credentials and click on OK.

• At last, this will log in as admin.

Step 2- Log in to the Admin account by Switching the Account.

• Go to the start menu and click on it.

• Now, click on the switch user option from the arrow.

• Type the admin credentials.

• At last, this will switch the user account to an admin account.

Method 2- User Account Control Turn off

If the above method fails then you can use this method by following the steps. It should be to change the user account control setting differently for other versions of window operating system like Windows 10, 8, 8.1, and 7.

Follow the below steps to change the user account setting for other windows like window 10, 8, 7, 8.1:-

• Firstly, open the Run Box but press and hold the Windows+R tab.

• Now, type the control panel on the run box and then click on Ok.

• Choose the user accounts.

• Then click on the Change user account control settings.

Note that if you get a UAC prompt then it is most favorable to choose and click on the Yes option to continue.

• Now, if you want to turn UAC off then you have to slide on the never notify option, and if you want to turn on UAC on then slide to always notify. According to that, move the slider.

• At last restart your system.

Method 3- Uninstall Antivirus Program and Rename Folder

• First, you have to open the task manager by pressing and holding the Ctrl+Shift+Esc keys together.

• Now, go to the processes tab and search for antivirus in your system.

Rename the QuickBooks Update Folder

• Press the Window+E key together to open the file explorer.

• Then go to the C:\Program files\Intuit\QuickBooks(year)\Components (for 32 bit users). And C:\Program files(x86)\Intuit\QuickBooks(year)\Components (for 64 bit users).

• Now, go to right-click on downloadqbXX folder > select rename option. The XX stands for the version year of QuickBooks.

• At last, add .old extension to the end. After that try to update the system again.

Method 4- In Selective Startup Mode Clean Install of QuickBooks

Step 1- Take Data Backup

• Take the backup of your company files and also keep the copy of your QuickBooks desktop or product and license information.

Step 2- Log in your System in Selective Startup Mode

Make sure that no other app will block you from completing the task, switch to selective startup mode:-

• Press the Windows+R key together to open the Run box and then type msconfig and click on OK.

• Go to the General tab and opt for the selected startup mode and load the system services.

• Now, go to the Services tab and choose to hide all Microsoft services.

• Verify the Hide all Microsoft services and tap on the disable all option.

• Check from the list of services to the windows installer checkbox.

• Lastly, you have to choose the restart option.

Step 3- Uninstall and Reinstall QuickBooks desktop

• When you restart your system then open uninstall the QuickBooks desktop and then you have to reinstall the QuickBooks application.

Step 4- Switch to Normal Startup Mode

After following all the above steps. At last, you have to restore the system settings to the normal configuration:

• Firstly, open the Run box by pressing the Window+R key and type misconfig, and tap on OK.

• Now, select the normal startup in the general tab and click on OK.

• At last, select the restart option on your system configuration window.
