Newborn Screening Market
Almost all infants will undergo a quick blood test to look for disorders that are not visible right away after birth. Some of these conditions are linked to genetics, metabolism, blood, or hormones. Although screening tests are required in every state in the US, each state has its own specific requirements.
Blood from the infant is taken using a heel prick. The blood traces are gathered in a tiny vial or on a specific piece of paper. After that, the Newborn Screening is sent for analysis. Although some babies may experience bruising or some redness at the pricked site, this usually goes away within a few days.
