Maritime Predictive Modelling is the science of numerical analysis of historical ship logs to predict the movement of cargo vessels in time to create more efficient routes, saving fuel and operational costs. The modelling process creates a virtual map of the shipping environment to help ships predict their position and navigate safely through shipping lanes. This has helped to cut the time and cost of long distance cargo transport by increasing efficiency of shipping by allowing ships to go where they need to go at peak times saving on fuel.
