The rise of technology gave people multiple sources of entertainment. You can easily play your favorite game online or offline as long as you have the right device. While most people nowadays prefer to play on mobile phones due to its accessibility and compact size, the experience is still limited compared to PC gaming.
Many people still love playing on PC due to its bigger screen and flexible keyboard controls. Aside from that, PCs can run complex games more smoothly than a mobile device ever could.
However, it’s not just a question of PC vs Mobile. Over the years, more platforms are being added and upgraded to cater to growing gaming demands. This includes next-generation consoles like PlayStations, Xbox, and Nintendo.
With all these new devices, gamers have long been questioning if the future of PC gaming is going to get bleak. So let’s discuss whether or not that would happen soon.
PC Gaming Remains A Major Personal Preference
If you are a PC gamer, you might want to ask yourself: Would you let consoles take control of the gaming industry soon? The truth is, not everybody can afford consoles because they are more expensive than a PC that is simply upgradable and more versatile in terms of gaming and overall purpose.
PC gamers also don’t have much to worry about. Even in 2020, major developers still make sure that their games are accessible to PCs because it still has a huge captive audience than other devices.
But it’s not just PC vs consoles. There’s also an ongoing feud within the console industry as to which one is the best. Sony’s PlayStation and Microsoft's Xbox have a long-standing feud regarding who is better and more powerful.
For example, Microsoft just announced that its CPU is four times more powerful than the Xbox One X. They decided to reveal this information just after Sony revealed juicy details about the upcoming PlayStation 5.
Advantages in the Overall Gaming Experience
We all know that there are debates regarding which is better: PC gaming or console gaming. The feud between these two platforms has been around since time immemorial.
PC gamers would say that using consoles is not as good as playing on PC. On the other hand, console gamers would also say that playing on a PC is not that great compared to a console. But we can't declare that one is much better than the other since both platforms have unique features that each gamer finds more useful and convenient.
Game Compatibility
PC gaming will not go away in the near future because there are things that can only be experienced with it. For one, most consoles don't even support indie games.
Consoles are known to only support the games that are developed by their own company and some partner creators. As a result, players don’t get a varied catalog of games to choose from.
Cost of Upgrade
Aside from that, PCs can be upgraded from time to time without necessarily purchasing a new one. Gaming PCs can simply replace video cards and processors to improve gameplay performance and speed.
With consoles, you would always need to buy the latest one each year (or every other year) to get an upgraded gaming experience. In other words, it would cost more. So if you are the practical type, the PC is still your best bet!
As long as millions of players remain comfortable playing with a PC, then it certainly won’t go away in the near future. The gaming industry bends and accommodates the majority of their player-base—who still prefer to play on PC.
