Tips From An Experienced Event Manager
Tips From An Experienced Event Manager
Are you worried about how your event would turn out? Here are some important yet easily forgettable tips for you.

Hosting a party is never as fun as attending one, is it? In Sydney, there are plenty of venues of different shapes and sizes that you might end up spoiled for choice. I’ve been an event manager in the city for over five years now and there are certain things I learned the hard way, like booking a venue well in advance, getting the guest-list ready on time and more. If you’re keen to know how I do what I do without much ado, here are some helpful ideas and tips for you:

Choosing the right venue

A good venue goes a long way in setting the mood for your event. Whether it’s a small party with your closest friends or a huge wedding, it is important to choose the right venue to create a memorable day. It could be a waterfront venue, a garden venue, an open-air beach venue or even a rooftop venue. Also, look for venue options like party boat hire on Sydney Harbour or dedicated functions rooms in the city for a premium experience. We, event managers, love it when the venue we cater to has just the right kind of equipment to support our decorations and theming. A Sydney boat party hire is one of my favourite options as it provides a challenging and maverick space that sets the bar high each time, not just for the hosts but also for the guests aboard.

Choosing the right event management team

A good idea can occur to anyone, but its greatness lies in the execution. If you’ve been dreaming of hosting a magical event experience that will surely win hearts, a good event management team will go a long way in creating an experience worth remembering. Of course, juggling everything single-handedly might not be a great idea to start with. Some people purposely avoid event teams “save”. But is that argument even real? I can show you my ledger of estimates of a fully catered event; the overall expense of a fully catered event is far less than an event with separate caterers for each element. And yet, there are people who still nod a big ‘NO’ to event management companies.

Get that guest-list ready

We’ve seen this often and it is sad! Inviting everyone on your contact list to your much-awaited event, only to see a small turnout on the day. As much as you feel obliged to send an invitation to everyone you know, please keep in mind to remind each invitee to RSVP on the invitation. A small turnout may entail wastage of food and resources. However, you can’t demand people to get back to you on the same day as they receive the invitation. Do give them enough time to confirm their presence at the event. That way you will get enough time to keep track of your final guest list.

Find a Way to Tackle Surplus Food

One of the biggest shortcomings of hosting an event is the surplus food that remains at the end of the event. Sure, you might think you can parcel some of it back home and store it in your fridge for later use. But is that really as efficient as you think? Maybe not. And this is where you might need to take the help of food waste solutions in the city. Throwing out food is definitely a big no-no for me. And that’s why I suggest you lend out the surplus food to those in need. You could think of it as a charity too. It is said that over 10,000 people go hungry each month. Getting in touch with a surplus collection centre might be a wonderful way to reduce food waste while helping people in need.
