A photo-transistor optically connected to a gallium arsenide infrared emitter diode in a line plastic packaging makes up the TLP521 series optocoupler. The TLP521 is an optocoupler with a photo-transistor that is activated by light (photon). It also features an IR (infrared) LED on the other side.
