The blood enters the filter at one end and is pushed into many thin, hollow threads. While your blood travels through the hollow fibers, dialysis solution travels around the outside of the fibers in the other manner. The dialysis solution collects waste items from your blood. The filtered blood is trapped in hollow threads and returned to the body.
