Horatio Greenough, an American dentist, created a microscope in the 1890s, which was later purchased by Carl Zeiss. Carl Zeiss engineers tweaked the design by moving the prism in the model. Greenough design is a traditional stereo microscope design that has been heavily changed and is still used by a wide range of end users, from researchers to jewellery makers and watchmakers.
