TotalEnergies SE has signed an agreement with the Sultanate of Oman's Ministry of Energy and Minerals to establish Marsa Liquefied Natural Gas LLC (Marsa LNG), a joint venture between TotalEnergies (80%) and Oman National Oil Company (20%).
Marsa LNG plans to generate natural gas from Block 10 of the Saih Rawl gas field, roughly 400 kilometers south of Muscat, with the goal of eventually building a low-carbon LNG plant near Sohar driven by solar energy for bunker fuel manufacture.
For the next 18 years, or until the Marsa LNG plant is operational, Marsa LNG will sell natural gas from Block 10 to the Sultanate of Oman.
Block 10 is estimated to produce around 24,000 barrels of oil per day by 2023.
Block 10 (53.45%) is operated by Shell Integrated Gas Oman BV, with Oman National Oil Company (13.36%) and Marsa LNG as partners (33.19%).
