The Automated Breast Ultrasound Systems (ABUS) Is Designed To Identify Malignancies In Women Where Mammography Is Inadequate Due To Their Dense Breasts

Ultrasound examines organs and structures within the body using high-frequency sound waves. The method does not involve radiation exposure. A transducer that scans the entire breast is used in automated breast ultrasound to obtain three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound images for cancer detection.

In asymptomatic women with dense breasts, Automated Breast Ultrasound Systems (ABUS) is used as an adjunct to mammography to screen for breast cancer. It is an efficient screening method with diagnostic accuracy comparable to handheld ultrasound (HHUS).
