Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension

Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a rare, progressive disorder characterised by abnormally high blood pressure (hypertension) in the arteries of the lungs (pulmonary artery). The blood vessels that carry blood from the right side of the heart to the lungs are known as the pulmonary arteries. Shortness of breath (dyspnea), especially during exercise, chest pain, and fainting episodes are all symptoms of Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension. The exact cause of PAH is unknown, and while the disease is treatable, there is no known cure. PAH most commonly affects women between the ages of 30 and 60.
