Salicylic Acid is a crystalline chemical compound that is extremely soluble in water. Salicin, an anti-inflammatory substance isolated from willow bark, is metabolised to produce it. Salicylic acid is a chemical that can be made synthetically or naturally from specific plants. It's made naturally through the biosynthesis of phenylalanine, an amino acid found in several plants.

Salicylic Acid, like Benzoyl Peroxide and otherwise known as Glycolic Acid, must be applied carefully to the affected area. It is not recommended to be used by pregnant or breastfeeding women. It is not advisable to use under any type of medication, whether oral, topical, or intravenous. It is considered safe when used as directed and is not contraindicated in any case. Its side effects include headache, dry mouth, reddening or peeling skin, irritation of the eyes, nose, lips, or tongue, and temporary swelling of the face, chest, or tongue.
