Sulfur Coated Urea
Sulfur Coated Urea was typically produced using molten sulphur spray in a coating drum. Prior to the coating process, the urea granule is uniformly preheated in another preheater drum at a temperature range of 50-90°C. Because the thin uniform coat on the urea surface is critical to SCU production, the molten sulphur spray system must be properly built and controlled during operation. As a result, the uneven coating is undesirable because urea can burst at the uncoated spot during fertiliser application. Using steam as a heat source, molten urea is sprayed at a temperature of 130-150°C.
