Air Inject Check Valve

An air injection check valve is a component that you may not be familiar with. These valves are found in vehicles that use a secondary air injection (AIR) system to reduce tailpipe emissions. An AIR check valve, like any other automotive component, can fail—and when it does, you may experience a variety of issues. Although not all vehicles have an AIR system, those that do may experience issues with an AIR check valve (also known as an Air Inject Check Valves or an air pump check valve). The AIR system is monitored by your car's primary computer, also known as the powertrain control module (PCM).  If the module detects a problem due to a faulty check valve, it will turn on the check engine light and store a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) in its memory.
