Idiopathic Congenital Angioedema (IAC), also known as Hereditary Angioedema, is a life-threatening condition that affects the blood arteries of the extremities, particularly the legs. Because approximately 95% of cases are hereditary, there are no recognised causes. Excessive perspiration, a rash on the skin, leg ulcers, impaired lymphatic flow, and swollen ankles are all symptoms. It is frequently lethal. Those who suffer from IAC, on the other hand, can receive treatment. It most commonly develops in the limbs, face, intestinal tract, and airway.
Furthermore, drugs can be used to treat Hereditary Angioedema, but lifestyle changes are sometimes more effective. Avoiding tight-fitting clothing, socks, and rubber shoes might help to alleviate IAC, as can changing your bras on a regular basis to prevent tight bras from forming. Recurrent airway inflammation can be prevented by limiting your salt consumption (salt is an active element in many antacids) and consuming foods high in antioxidants. A low-salt diet is also useful for IAC patients; research has shown that persons with IAC have lower salt levels than people without IAC, therefore following a low-salt diet can help prevent recurrences.
