Surprisingly, even the most devout church goers are sometimes unaware of each other’s on-going spiritual journey. Through my work as a couples therapist, I’ve seen firsthand how people commonly withhold their deep spiritual feelings from their partner. As a result, many couples find themselves reeling in confusion and pain, searching for answers, when a partner suddenly withdraws from church attendance or disavows their once shared beliefs.
