An absorbent plain gauze medical dressing known as an adhesive Bandages is held in place by a tape composed of either plastic or cloth that is covered in adhesive. It often takes the shape of a tape with an absorbent pad of a smaller size that does not adhere to the adhesive side and is sticky on one side. The wound that has to be treated is directly covered with the pad.
Applying an adhesive bandage is much easier than applying a traditional cotton Bandages. This offers a significant benefit. Some of the dressings have antimicrobial components to hasten the healing of the lesion. The two severed ends of the skin are held together while being sewn back together as a secondary goal to speed up the healing process.
