Autoclaves Are Used To Carry Out Industrial And Scientific Processes That Require Elevated Temperatures And Pressures Relative To Ambient Conditions

An Autoclaves is a device used to perform industrial and scientific procedures that call for higher pressure and/or temperature than the ambient conditions. In the chemical industry, autoclaves are used to vulcanize rubber, cure coatings, and sterilize objects prior to medical procedures. They are also used for hydrothermal synthesis. Industrial applications use industrial autoclaves, particularly when making composite materials. According to the size of the load and the contents, many autoclaves sterilize equipment and supplies by exposing them to pressurized saturated steam at 121 °C (250 °F) for 30 to 60 minutes at a pressure of 15 psi[1] (103 kPa or 1.02 at). The autoclave was developed by Charles Chamber land in 1879[3, although a predecessor known as the steam digester existed beforehand. was invented in 1679 by Denis Papen.  The word derives from the Greek auto-, which ultimately means self, and Latin clevis, which means key.
