The delivery ceremony of the Antarctic No. 2 all-terrain vehicle.
The Antarctic No. 2 all-terrain vehicle (ATV) made its long-awaited return to the research station for which it was designed on January 17, 2019, marking a significant milestone in the history of international cooperation in Antarctica. This video provides an inside look at the delivery ceremony as well as some of the vehicle's highlights.

The Arrival of the Antarctic No. All-Terrain Vehicle

The Antarctic No. 2  all-terrain vehicle arrived at McMurdo Station on Saturday, December 3rd, 2014. The vehicle, delivered by a team of four explorers from the United States Antarctic Program (USAP), will be used to transport supplies and personnel to and from the continent's research stations.

The all-terrain vehicle is a military Humvee that has been modified for off-road use. It can travel at speeds of up to 50 miles per hour on terrain that is inaccessible to other vehicles and has a capacity of 10 passengers.

The arrival of the all-terrain vehicle is a watershed moment in McMurdo Station's history. It will enable researchers to reach more remote locations and complete more ambitious projects than ever before.

The Unveiling of the Antarctic No. 2 All-Terrain Vehicle

The Antarctic No.2 all-terrain vehicle was ceremoniously unveiled at Christchurch Airport on Thursday, December 12th. The unveiling marked the end of a long and arduous journey for the project's team.

The all-terrain vehicle was constructed in Antarctica using only local materials. The vehicle is intended to make it easier for tourists to explore the icy continent. It can also transport supplies and personnel to remote locations.

The unveiling of the all-terrain vehicle was a watershed moment in Antarctic exploration history. It demonstrated that New Zealand is still at the forefront of Antarctic exploration and development.

The Ceremony of Delivery

The Antarctic No.2 all-terrain vehicle (ATV) was ceremonially delivered to the National Science Foundation (NSF) at their facility in Barrow, Alaska on Thursday, December 14th, 2017. The NSF is the project's primary sponsor and has been instrumental in its development.

A team of eight people, including four NSF employees, delivered the ATV. To deliver the vehicle to its new home, the team traveled over 6,000 miles from our factory in China.

A religious service led by an ordained minister kicked off the ceremony. Following the service, representatives from the NSF and our company gave gifts to the team members. Finally, NSF Director Dr. Ellen Stofan gave a speech in which she thanked everyone who helped make the delivery possible.

This historic occasion marks the start of what we hope will be a long and fruitful collaboration between our two organizations. We are very excited to see what this new machine can do for science in the harshest environment on Earth.
