One of the biggest problems encountered in the surgical intervention process is that the surgical hand tools and devices used are not recognized, and the surgical team does not have sufficient knowledge. General Surgical instruments are used to perform diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. The place of surgical hand tools produced to apply surgical techniques in the success of surgical interventions is indisputable. Deterioration or breakage of instruments causes prolongation of the duration of surgical intervention increased stress of the surgical team, and inadequate cleaning cause's infections or other infectious diseases in the surgical field. In order to solve all these problems, the members of the surgical team should have sufficient knowledge about the structure, use, cleaning, and maintenance of surgical hand instruments. Briefly, in the selection of surgical instruments, it is necessary to determine the instruments correctly and to make the necessary controls consciously. The purpose of this review is to present information that can be used on surgical hand tools to the members of the surgical team.
