Theycome in two forms such as denatured and non-denatured. In the former, thesugars are broken down by heat to produce monolaurin and other sugars. Thisform of bioplastichas a number of advantages over traditional plastics. First, they require verylittle processing to get ready for use whereas conventional plastics usuallyneed heat treatment to get them ready for use. Second, in the case ofdenatured, the sugars are broken down to simpler sugars which are more suitablefor use as an ingredient in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.
