Corbett National Park is a muse for those whose world revolves around wildlife and nature.It is among the most famous wildlife destinations of India which is well known for its tigers and other wildlife species. It boasts of rich bio-diversity which makes it a must-visit place for wildlife enthusiasts. Not only this, it is also known for its picturesque landscape and enchanting surroundings. Tigers, leopards and crocodiles are the main highlights of Corbett national Park. The Park got its name from the renowned author and wildlife conservationist Jim Corbett who played an important role in establishment of this park. With an aim to save tiger, this Park came under Project Tiger scheme in the year 1973. Covering an area of 520 sq km, the park is among the oldest wildlife reserves in the country. Its wonderful geographical features such as plains, mountains, gentle and rugged regions, forests and grassland make it all the more wonderful.

Flora

The park takes pride in its more than 600 species of trees, herbs, shrubs, bamboos, climbers, ferns and grasses.

 

Fauna

A wide variety of wildlife species are found in this park. Tigers, langur monkeys, wild boars, leopard, sambar, deer, peacocks, Himalayan Black bears, Indian Grey Mongoose, spotted deer, crocodiles, Sloth, wild elephants otters and yellow-throated martens are a few to name. The park also boasts of around 580 bird species which includes both resident and migratory ones. If you are inclined towards fishing then you must head to Ramgarh, Binsar and Pancheshwar, the wonderful places within the park's boundary. But for fishing you need to take special permission from forest officials.

The best time to visit Corbett National Park is from November to June. For moving around in the park tourists can choose from elephant safari and jeep safari.
