Sagging breasts is a very common condition in women’s lives and can impact their self-esteem, when performing their various daily activities or even on their physical health, in cases where there is discomfort when wearing a bra or possible back pain.

To solve this problem, it is possible to correct the sagging of the breast through a surgery called Mastopexy. We prepared this content to explain more about the procedure and all its steps. Check out!

Mastopexy: what is it and its indications

When many patients look for plastic surgeon in East Delhi to perform the correction of breast sagging, most of them believe that the solution to the problem is to perform a silicone prosthesis implant. However, this is far from the adequate solution for these cases.

To correct the sagging of the breast there is a surgical procedure called Mastopexy, also called “breast lift surgery in Delhi”.

This solution, which enters the category of plastic surgery, is done by removing excess skin from the breasts, in addition to the remaining tissue being tensioned to model a new contour to them. Depending on each case, the areola is usually repositioned, which may be facing downwards.

The natural thing is that the skin generates sagging in the breast over the years, but not in all cases aging is the cause, as young women can have sagging breasts or disproportionate sizes between them.

Any patient who already has fully developed breasts can perform the procedure, and the average indication is from the age of 18. Today, Breast lift surgery in Delhi is the most sought-after plastic surgery.

This surgery is recommended in several situations where the appearance of the contour of the breasts is compromised: after pregnancies and breastfeeding, great variations in weight, natural aging of the breast, or even characteristics inherited by the patient’s genetics.

The procedure is performed in a surgical center using local or general anesthesia, and can take from 1½ to 4 hours, and the incisions vary according to the technique chosen and the patient’s needs.

Shape of possible mastopexy incisions

As we mentioned, the types of incisions performed at the time of breast lifting surgery may vary depending on the patient’s case. Therefore, it is important to ensure an evaluation with an experienced and trusted plastic surgeon in Delhi.

The incisions, which may leave light scars as the patient heals, are usually made in three ways:

  • Periareolar: in cases of mild flaccidity, a circular cut is made only around the areola;
  • Periareolar and Vertical: in cases of moderate flaccidity, the incision explained above is made and another vertically in the center of the breast;
  • Anchor or inverted T: in cases of great sagging, this model is used for a greater renewal of the contour of the breast. Here the incisions listed above are made and a curved horizontal line made at the base of the breast.

Result stages of mastopexy

There are some periods to observe the results of Mastopexy with slight variations according to each case. We can observe three different phases after breast lift surgery in Nagpur:

  • Immediate Period: it usually happens at the end of the first month, when the breasts already have a recovered aspect, but it is still not possible to see the final result;
  • Mediate Period: between 30 days and 8 months after the procedure, presenting a more defined shape with possible lack or excess of sensitivity in the nipples;
  • Late Period: it lasts from the 8th month to 1 and a half year after the surgery, when the breasts arrive in the expected shape and volume, with complete healing, accommodation of the breast and the elasticity of the skin of the place.

What is mastopexy recovery like?

Breast lift recovery is considered fast and without many complications when the postoperative period is followed correctly, with only discomfort in the first few days.

Right after the surgery, the patient begins her recovery in the hospital, where she stays for up to 24 hours for observation, and it is possible to be discharged on the same day of the procedure.

Due to the lack of mobility in the arms, it is recommended to have a companion to help with the initial care. The first bath can be done 24 hours after the surgery. Medicines are given for pain and for possible inflammation.

After 5 to 7 days, the patient returns to the doctor for a follow-up appointment and dressing change.

After the end of the surgery, and for the next 30 to 45 days, the patient wears a special bra that guarantees support and immobilizes the surgery site, ensuring less swelling. This sensation of feeling swollen breasts is common and can happen to different degrees up to 6 months after the procedure.

Relative rest should be done for 15 days, avoiding sudden movements of the trunk and arms. The patient can return to driving and performing light physical activities after 40 days.

After surgery, many women have doubts about the ideal position at bedtime. It is recommended to always sleep on your back, avoiding putting pressure on the surgery site. Not even sleeping on your side is recommended for the first 30 to 45 days.

As with any surgical procedure, there are risks that depend on the reaction of each person’s body, so monitoring and post-surgical care is important, avoiding possible infections, bruises, seromas, opening stitches, among others.

Contraindications of Mastopexy

Mastopexy does not have many contraindications. Although the procedure does not change a woman’s ability to breastfeed, the first contraindication is for women who have a close plan to become pregnant.

Another contraindication is for people who are in the process of losing weight and still intend to lose a large volume of kilos. This can affect the final result of the procedure due to sagging in the considerable weight loss process.

If the patient has autoimmune diseases, diabetes, hypertension and other diseases, the best plastic surgeon in Nagpur will determine through examinations and a clinical analysis whether the procedure is recommended or not for the patient.
