ABSTRACT
Deep vein thrombosis is a disease of blood when there is a formation of thrombus in the blood vessels. A thrombus is a blood clot that is formed in a vessel. Thrombus remains in the arteries and hampers blood circulation. There is another term called emboli which is also a blood clot but the only difference is that emboli travels from one site to site and when it is lodged in a specific site then it turns into Thrombus which damages, infarcts or even causes the death of the tissue in that area. Deep vein thrombosis is an example of this thrombus. So in this article, we are going to discuss DVT and its Ayurvedic management
INTRODUCTION
Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a disease that occurs when a blood clot forms in the deep veins in the body. It usually lodged in the deep veins of the legs. It can cause leg pain or swelling. DVT is a serious condition in which there is a blood clot in a vein located deep inside the body and this blood clot is a clump of blood that turns into a solid part. These clots typically form in the legs but can also develop in other areas of the body. This is a life-threatening condition because blood clots can travel through your bloodstream and get stuck in the lungs and cause a pulmonary embolism.

- Colour flow doppler test (Ultrasound): This is used to create a picture of arteries and veins in order to see the blood flow through them.
- Venogram: In this test, a dye is injected into the vein and an X-ray is taken over the affected area. This dye makes the vein more visible.
- D-Dimer test: This blood test is performed to rule out the presence of the substance that is released when a blood clot breaks apart.
