A person without kids may not know what he is missing. I went to the QVC exhibition at the Bryant Park tents over the weekend, which featured Rachel Zoe's new fashion collection. Wasn't it incredible? (I discussed this elsewhere.) One thing I like about TV sets in general because this three-hour runway show was, of course, mostly a QVC selling presentation is how much staging there is of things we wouldn't notice until they were incorrect.
On Saturday, the producers were having major issues with the trendy youngsters they'd placed in the first row behind the primary camera.
They had around two dozen extremely fashion-weekly white foldable chairs set up in front of the primary camera that was the camera in front of which they were selling the snot out of clothing. The folks on these seats were allegedly all FIT students, however three kids named Caitlin, Kyle, and Rachele, who were 19 and 20 years old and attended SUNY Plattsburgh, Fordham, and NYU, respectively, were crashers.
They were also bored. They were instructed three times to cease slouching, texting, and talking on the phone. ("Get his attention and tell him to behave!" growled a QVC staff as Kyle pretended to sleep.) They were calling their mothers, and their mothers were saying, "Oh, I saw you on TV!"
The threesome ultimately left the concert about halfway through. I eventually ran across them outside. They were completely over it.
