7 Simple (But Important) Things To Remember About the Jaundice Meter.

The expansion of the jaundice metre is expected to be fueled by technological advancements. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, BiliCam is a smartphone-based non-invasive medical technology that uses an on-device camera to detect yellow skin discoloration caused by excessive bilirubin deposition. On the phone, newborn photographs are collected in a uniform manner. The bilirubin level is estimated using the colour (strength of yellow discolouration) data in the image.

The four jaundice metres are predicted to be hampered by serious injuries caused by their misuse. For example, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recalled Draeger Medical Systems' Jaundice Meter JM-103 and JM-105 models in June 2018 because many users misread display warnings for out of range bilirubin values, resulting in significant injuries such as brain damage.
