The only thing you need to know when trying to restore adeleted contact is when you deleted the contact. You have to remember whetheryou deleted it a day ago, a week ago, or a month ago.

Open contacts.google.com in your browser and sign in withthe same Google account linked to the smartphone from which you accidentallydeleted a contact.
Tap on the gear icon in the upper right corner and click'Undo changes' to start the restore process.

You will be asked to select a period of time during whichyou want to undo any changes you have made to Google contacts. You can select atime period that includes when you deleted a contact and can be from 10 minutesto a maximum of 30 days.
All changes that you have made to Google contacts during theselected period will be erased. All the contacts that you accidentally deletedduring that time will be restored.
But you have to remember that if you have added any newcontacts during that period, they will be removed as all changes made duringthe selected period will be erased. So you need to be careful and backup allyour existing contacts before trying to restore deleted contacts.
Choose the correct time period including the period in whichthe contact was deleted and click the 'Confirm' button.

Steps to restore deleted Google contacts on your smartphone
To restore a deleted contact from gmail on your smartphone,you must have the Google Contacts app installed on your smartphone.
Open the Google Contacts app and tap the Menu icon in theupper left corner.

On the Settings page, you need to scroll down and click on'Undo changes'. If you have multiple Google accounts on your phone, select theaccount for which you want to restore contacts.

Now you need to select the time to undo the changes andclick 'Confirm'.

After a few minutes, you will find that all the deletedcontacts are restored.
You should have a backup of all your contacts before tryingto restore deleted contacts, as you may lose the new contacts that you added toGoogle contacts for the selected period of time.

Alternatively, you can recover your contacts directly fromyour Google account backup. To do the same, open the Settings on yoursmartphone and head over to the Google section.

If necessary, you can even specify the contacts you want torestore from your Google account and all the contacts will be restored in a fewminutes.
But these methods will only work if you have the contactssynced with your Google account. You need a Google account to use most of thefeatures on a smartphone and Google automatically backs up your contacts. Thecontact sync feature will always remain enabled unless you manually disable it.If you haven't synced your contacts with your Google account, you should do sosoon as it helps you restore gmail contacts quickly and easily.
However, you can recover deleted contacts from gmail only upto 30 days from the day you deleted the contacts. If the contacts were deletedbefore, they cannot be recovered.
It is highly recommended to backup contacts to Google as itallows you to get them back even if you lose your device or find it difficultto access your device.
