When Plasma Welding, Tungsten Electrodes are Utilized
When plasma welding or using the arc welding technique known as tungsten inert gas (TIG).

When plasma welding or using the arc welding technique known as tungsten inert gas (TIG), tungsten electrodes are employed. An inert gas is used in both procedures to shield the electrode, arc, and weld pool from ambient pollution. Because it can resist extremely high temperatures with little melting or erosion, tungsten is utilised as an electrode. Powder metallurgy is used to create electrodes, which are then sized following sintering. During welding, some Tungsten Electrode does vaporise, but it only does so in a very small proportion, and the radioactivity level that results from this is incredibly low. No particular safety measures are required. Wearing mouth, nose, and eye protection during welding would further limit any chance of contamination, similar to when grinding thoriated tungsten electrodes.
