Aniline is a primary aromatic amine that reacts with mineral acids to create salts. Nitrous acid transforms anilin into a diazonium salt in acidic solution, which is an intermediary in the production of several colours and other commercially valuable organic compounds. Anilides, such as acetanilide from anilin and acetic acid, are produced when Aniline is burned with organic acids. Anilin and methyl alcohol can be combined to create monomethylaniline and dimethylaniline. Cyclohexylamine is produced when aniline is reduced catalytically. Anilin is transformed into quinone, azobenzene, nitrosobenzene, p-aminophenol, and the phenazine pigment aniline black by a number of oxidising chemicals.
