Succinic Acid is a constituent of various alkyd resins and a precursor to some polyesters. acid can be used as a precursor in the synthesis of 4-butanediol (BDO). BDO is a major supplier of connections, insulators, wheel covers, gearshift knobs, and reinforcing beams to the automotive and electronics sectors. The bases of acid are also used in some biodegradable polymers that have potential for use in tissue engineering.
