Unified stack management
The Cisco Catalyst 2975 Series Switch supports unified stack management to scale back the operational cost of managing a stack of up to nine access layer switches. A master switch and a backup master switch are chosen from a stack of Cisco Catalyst 2975 switches. The primary switch maintains a single configuration file for the stack and automatically provisions and updates the software image for new switches added to a stack, allowing for plug-and-play hardware replacement. The Cisco Catalyst 2975 switch stack supports a single IP address, which is maintained even when a new stack master is chosen. Additionally, a stack of Cisco Catalyst 2975 switches appears as one spanning-tree node to the remainder of the network, and every one member of the stack uses the same bridge ID, simplifying convergence and troubleshooting of the spanning tree.
Power over Ethernet
The Cisco Catalyst 2975 Switch provides PoE to enable easy connection to Ethernet-powered devices, including Cisco IP phones and wireless access points. Cisco Catalyst 2975 PoE models comply with Cisco PoE and IEEE 802.3af standards. PoE eliminates the need for wall power for each PoE-enabled device and eliminates the cost of additional wiring and electrical circuits that would otherwise be required in WLAN and IP phone deployments.
Redundant Power System
The Cisco Catalyst 2975 Switches support the new generation of the Cisco Redundant Power System (RPS) 2300, which increases availability in a converged data, voice, and video network by providing transparent power backup to 2 of six attached switches at an equivalent time.
Intelligence on the Net
Today's networks are evolving to address four new developments at the edge of the network:
- Increased desktop computing power
- Introduction of bandwidth-intensive applications
- Expansion of highly sensitive data on the network.
- Presence of multiple types of devices, such as IP phones, WLAN access points, and IP video cameras
These new demands compete for resources with existing mission-critical applications. As a result, IT professionals must view the edge of the network as critical to effectively managing the delivery of information and applications.
As companies increasingly rely on networks as strategic business infrastructure, it is more important than ever to help ensure their high availability, security, scalability, and control. By adding Cisco smart features for LAN access, you can now deploy network-wide smart services that consistently address these requirements from desktop to core and across the WAN.
Cisco Catalyst 2975 Series Switches assist you to realize all the advantages of adding intelligent services to your networks. Implementing capabilities that make the network infrastructure highly available to adapt to critical needs over time, scalable to accommodate growth, secure enough to protect sensitive information, and able to differentiate and control traffic flows is critical. to further optimize network operations.
