SSC CGL (Combined Graduate Level) is considered to be one of the biggest examinations to be conducted for graduate students in India to recruit staff for various posts in the various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India and in its Subordinate Offices.
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Exam for recruitment to various subordinate services like:
Assistants in Ministries/Departments,
Attached and Subordinate office of the Govt. of India.
Inspectors of Central Excise & Customs.
Inspectors of Income Tax.
Preventive Officers in Customs.
Examiner in Customs.
Sub-Inspectors in Central Bureau of Narcotics & CBI.
Assistant Enforcement Officer in the Directorate of Enforcement, Department of Revenue.
Divisional Accountant, Jr. Accountant, Auditor & UDCs in various offices of Govt. of India.
Auditor Offices under C&AG, CGDA, CGA & others.

Tax Assistant in CBDT and CBEC

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the SSC CGL Exam for the recruitment of Grade “B” and “C” category posts in various Government Ministries, Departments and Offices. The SSC CGL exam is held in 4 stages called Tiers. The entire process of registration and communication happens online through the official website of SSC. 3 Tier-III: Pen and Paper Mode (Descriptive paper)

SSC CGL Tier-2 exam will be conducted online comprising of four exams with about 100 or 200 (English) questions in each section and with maximum marks of 200.
Timing for each exam will be 2 hours.

SSC has decided to conduct Descriptive Paper instead of an Interview for all the qualifying candidates of Tier-2. This (Pen and Paper mode-descriptive paper) is introduced to test the writing skill of the candidates.
The paper is in English/ Hindi language and will constitute 100 marks.

Note: Candidates have to score 33 Marks (33 percent) to qualify this Descriptive Paper.
SYLLABUS OVERVIEW OF TIER-IV
SSC CGL Tier 4 Exam is a Computer Skill Test and is conducted in two steps:
Skill Test in Data Entry (DEST) Test: This test is conducted to check a Candidate’s typing skills. Candidates are given an article of 2000 words in English which they have to type on the Computer in 15 minutes.
Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) Test: This test is conducted to check a candidate’s proficiency in Word Processing, Spreadsheets and Generation of Slides are the three areas that are tested by the SSC for the post of CSS, MEA, Inspector (Central Excise), Inspector (Preventive Officer), Inspector (Examiner).
Note: SSC CGL Tier-4 is qualifying in nature (i.e. no marks will be rewarded in Tier-4).
Candidate should prepare for SSC CGL exam in the following manner:
Be Thorough With The Syllabus: Go through the SSC CGL syllabus and see what all topics are included under each section. Categorize your strength and weakness, to find out which topics are easy and which are difficult.
Create A Timetable: The next step is to create a proper and realistic timetable. Separate time slots should be allotted for each of the sections. More time should be spent on the section that you find difficult and less time on your strong sections.
Develop Reading Habits & Clear Your Concepts: You need to understand what each of the concepts means. Otherwise, it won’t be possible for you to even identify the problems. Especially for the Language section (Hindi/English) and General Knowledge & General Awareness sections, you need an extensive reading. Try to understand the application and usage of grammatical rules and improve your vocabulary. The General Knowledge & General Awareness section on the other hand needs you to have information about a wide range of topics at your fingertips. All these things can be achieved with regular reading of Newspaper and Articles.
