UGC NET Selection Process
There is a specific eligibility criterion that the candidates must follow before submitting the application form for the UGC National Entrance Test. The candidates must follow the educational standards and the age limit in order to successfully take the entrance examination.

General category candidates must achieve at least 40% of the total marks on both Papers I and II. Reserved Candidates must score at least 35% of the total marks on both Tasks I and II.

Qualifications for the number of Assistant Professor candidates must equal 6% of the total number of candidates appearing in both papers.

The number of JRF candidates qualified must be equal to 1% of the total number of candidates for both papers.

Degree holders who complete the master's degree examination by September 19, 1991 (regardless of the date of publication of the results) will have their total NET grade reduced by 5% (i.e. from 55% to 50%).

The total percentage of both exams I and II in a particular subject (corresponding to the number of places achieved) determines the eligibility criteria for selecting assistant professors in that subject. All other subject-specific eligibility limits are determined in the same manner.
