The most dreaded season is upon us! It’s summer all over again. The season of sweat, heat, and dehydration. On the bright side, this is the season of super cool mocktails, beaches, and light cotton clothes but sadly it’s not the same for our riding & driving beauties!

When our body heats up and we go out of the way to keep it cool, the same way our vehicles also need some extra care to be protected from the sun’s wrath. So, without further ado, let’s get started on 7 ways to keep your car cool in this blazing heat

1- Cool down your tyres& keep an eye on them

It is very crucial that your tyres are in good condition during summers as they are the parts which are in constant touch with the hot roads (it can be hottest also, provided the kind of temperature we are facing these days). Check if your tyres are properly inflated, as under-inflated tyres tend to overheat and rupture leading to a blowout. It is wiser to check the pressure at least once a week, preferably when your tyres have not been excessively used.

2- Sheets to the rescue

If your vehicle is going to remain parked in the sun for long hours, the interiors & exteriors are bound to heat up. A light-colored cotton bedsheet will be helpful in this case. Just spread the sheet all over the seats. It will offer shade and help in keeping the temperature low so that you don’t burn your bum.

3- Open Happiness

If you are about to drive a heated car, make sure you open all the doors and windows and put the air conditioner’s fan on blast before entering the car. The fumes from a hot car are not exactly healthy! As reports say, there are chances you might faint

4- Engine Check-Up is a must

On usual days, you will notice that your vehicle’s engine is pretty hot after you have driven it for a while. Now imagine how much hotter a vehicle’s engine will be when the temperature rises. For this reason, engines come with cooling systems to prevent them from overheating. Remember to flush the coolant at regular intervals and to fill the coolant to the proper level. In some cases, you may have to dilute the coolant with equal parts of water and coolant. If the engine heats up often, look for heat-related damage and replace the needed parts if necessary

5- Shine it to Save it

The coolant in your vehicle’s radiator does 3x the work during the summer season, guarding against overheating and corrosion and keeping the water pump greased. Conventual coolant should be swapped out every 1 to 2 years, while extended life coolant is typically good for 5 years. You might also want to give your vehicle the much needed shine by washing and waxing it at least once a week. This will not only help keep your vehicle looking as good as new but also preserve its resale value. Plus, it will help you to get up close with your machine and help you identify the minor defects that may become a point of concern in the long run.

6- Coolant Care

7- Keep it Insured

Apart from beating the heat and shielding your vehicle from this hot weather, you should get additional protection with car and two-wheeler insurance. The right policy will not only pay for the third-parties but also cover their own damage. Insurance will help you take care of your finances when in need.
