Modafinil
Modafinil
Modafinil is employed to treat excessive sleepiness caused by narcolepsy (a condition that causes excessive daytime sleepiness) or shift work disorder (sleepiness during scheduled waking hours and difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep during scheduled sleeping hours in folks who work at night or on rotating shifts).

Modafinil interactions and effects

Doctors recommend Modafinil dosages based on the patient's age, medical history, current health, and the exact ailment being treated. The recommended starting dose is 100mg, although many patients with sleep apnea and narcolepsy are given 200mg. Daytime drowsiness and obstructive sleep apnea require 200mg, and a 400mg dose is unusual but not uncommon. The effects are always determined by the dosage; however, a greater dosage does not always imply that the effects will be seen sooner. When used daily, many people report little to no change between the 200mg and 400mg dosages.

Modafinil interacts with a variety of different drugs, foods, and drinks. The time you take the medication will also affect how quickly it works. People who take the medication while they are only somewhat drowsy, for example, may notice the effects sooner. It is recommended to avoid taking the medication before night if you are really drowsy. Modafinil can keep you awake for several hours, so if you want to sleep at night or at another time, don't take it during the previous three hours or so.
