Best of Sydney during Winter 2022

Sydney is a gorgeous city with an all year perfect climate but tourists might mistake it like there’s nothing to do here during its coldest months of the year. Yes, it is true that Australia and Sydney, in particular, is best known for its warm summers but just because the temperature dropped doesn't mean there’s nothing to do when winter comes. From checking out the usual tourist stops like the harbour, Sydney Tower Eye, Bondi Beach and Royal Botanic Gardens to going on a Vivid Light Cruise, here is a short list of some of the things you can easily do in the months of winter.

The number one thing you should look for once you have successfully stepped foot in Sydney is whether the annual festival of lights, music and ideas is happening. Vivid Sydney 2022 is one of the most captivating events in Sydney’s cultural calendar and if you're lucky enough, you get to witness the festival which runs through late May until mid June. This outdoor gallery of striking light installations and exhilarating music concerts has grown to be one of the biggest of its kind in the entire planet. You can easily enjoy them onboard a Vivid Harbour Cruise, which offers unrivalled views of the festivities that take place across the harbour and its precincts! If massive crowds ain’t your things there’s no better option to enjoy the harbour spectacles than a harbour cruise! From premium glass boats and modern catamarans to unique paddlewheelers with wrap-around verandahs, you get to choose from a wide range of vessels! On top of that you get to enjoy freshly prepared dishes as you enjoy views of the iconic Opera House, Harbour Bridge, Fort Denison and many more! So what’s the wait?! Join in on the fun by grabbing a seat!

Sydney is one of the largest cities in Australia which has a rich and varied history along with a vibrant culture and art scene, so it would be a shame if you went back home without getting a glimpse of it. And when winter rolls out you can head out to these intriguing exhibits as there will be less crowd now. All museums and art galleries of Sydney regularly update their collections as a result of the city’s diverse and intricate art scene. Even the residents can be seen coming back time and time again to catch something new or get a taste of the ongoing international exhibitions. Lethal animals, ambers, fossils, mummified corpses and hot rocks are some of the things you can find in these museums, while the art galleries can be seen as a blend of everything old and new. You can even opt to take  a guided tour inside the iconic Opera House, if you haven't already.

When visiting the capital of New South Wales during winter, the easiest way you can blend in with the locals is by catching a game of rugby or football at the stadium. There is no shortage of games here as this is the sporting season. Rugby in Australia is more than just a sport so even if you're not familiar with the game rules, just pick out a team, wear a jersey and cheer your lungs out with the other fans! You might even get the chance to catch Sydney Swans go at it against SCG, which is a must-try experience or if you're lucky enough you can even catch the local rugby teams play in the NRL. Tickets for such big games tend to sell out quickly so it is advised that you do your research or you might end up buying tickets from scalpers when the day comes.
