Not far from the city quarters there’s a park area called Garden of the Gods. This natural wonder was created by wind erosion, and its main pride is the extraordinary orange rocks. The park's name dates back to the events of August 1859, when two local cartographers surveyed the area in connection with the founding of nearby Colorado City. One of them found the place suitable for a beer plantation, while the second suggested calling it the Garden of the Gods.

Admission to the park is free according to the bequest of Charles Elliot Perkins, whose children donated the park's land to the city of Colorado Springs in 1909. There are many walking and cycling paths in this park, along which you can walk and admire the stunning geological formations.

Manitou Cliff Dwellings is a famous US tourist sight and open-air museum located west of Colorado Springs, off Interstate 24 in Manitou Springs. It contains copies of the rock dwellings of the Anasazi Indians who lived in the area until about 1300 AD.

The Anasazi themselves didn’t live in Manitou Springs and didn’t build their dwellings there. However, similar dwellings are well preserved in many places in the historical region of the United States. For example, in Mesa Verde and Chaco Canyon.
