Google Chimera Painter Lets You Turn Doodles into Monsters

Whether you are a painter or not, Google can now transform your drawings into a masterpiece. Google’s Chimera has an outstanding capability that can convert any sketch. The word “Chimera” got popular after Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible II. And, Google’s Chimera will help you in turning a rough sketch of a monster into a realistic one.

Chimera Painter

Google’s Chimera Painter can create monsters. The user can give these monsters a fearsome look. For digital artists, it works like a paintbrush. The AI-based models help to reduce the time taken to produce high-quality art. After designing the colored picture of a creature, the user will see an animated picture. The “Transform” button converts every bit of the picture into a real creature. It was not Google who first built such platforms. Nvidia has built super-awesome landscapes using the GauGAN. IBM and MIT’s GANPaint Studio can create superb marvels and buildings.

GAN & Photorealism

Google’s Chimera works on AI-based Generative Adversarial Networks. It is a class of Machine Learning models. In this, two neural networks compete with each other. So, it relies on a zero-sum game. By giving a training set, it generates new data with the same statistics. Hence, it discovers and learns the regularities or patterns. The generative network of GAN generates a latent space (inferred from datasets). The evaluation of the efficiency of latent space by discriminative network distinguishes it from the real data. GAN finds its application in video games, astronomical imaging, advertisement, etc. Another approach adopted by Google is Photorealism. Photorealism combines drawing, painting, and graphic media. The photorealists work more on the photographs to generate art. It unites light and color to deliver real-time canvas.

Using Google Chimera

  1. Go to the website of Chimera Painter.
  2. Accept the terms and conditions.
  3. A new screen opens.
  4. On the left-side window, check the body features.
  5. Start drawing the creature.
  6. To change the creature, search for number buttons. There are four types of creatures available for the user to draw and paint.
  7. In case of a mistake, use the Erase button at the bottom of the left-side window.
  8. After completion, tap the Transform button. The simulation will start to produce art.

Note that the user cannot change the color of body features. So, if the eye color is green, it will always remain green. One can change the size of the paintbrush by tapping the circles. Also, there is one “Load” option available to upload the image. But it is not very good at this moment. As a result, it is better not to use the Load button. The Transform button may take time to build the output.
