So I'm in a pickle since my mother's birthday is nearing in a few days, and I've not prepared anything for her. My brain is in a haze, and I'm no idea what to buy her.
What would you think of when your parents surprised you with a new sofa to celebrate your birthday? That sofa was later placed in the living room and was used by all the family, as well as guests on occasions? Birthday gifts are not a fit into the category of caring for the household, as it has its own time and place.
One rule I'd adhere to when purchasing gifts for mothers is to never purchase anything for the house (such as a brand new pot or iron) as it's not an good personal present because everybody will use itand it could convince our moms that that's all we value them for (doing the household chores).
Their gifts ought to be a treat for them only.
